Confidence in Social Impact Investment Sector good - challenges & difficulties remain

seedlings growing out of increasing piles of coins

BIG SOCIETY CAPITAL's 22 June Perspectives and Priorities Report finds that the Social Impact Investment Sector (SII) "has become considerably more established and settled over the last 2-3 years, with good levels of confidence and knowhow reported amongst most of those involved in the investment process and a growing sense that SII is becoming more achievable and accessible".

It goes on to report, however, that significant challenges and difficulties remain, including:

  • Clarity and transparency
  • Standardisation and consolidation
  • More flexibility in funding models

The SECE project aims to develop an Educator development programme, learner MOOC and innovative board game which will help build the skills required by potential, aspiring or new Social Entrepreneurs in setting up their new enterprise. This will include support in navigating 'difficult' investment processes.
